Keratin microfibres

Bioextrax has developed a completely biobased process to hydrolyze chicken and turkey feathers to produce keratin rich micro fibers.

The microfibres are first-of-its-kind and can only be produced with the Bioextrax patent-pending method.

Their small size (30-200 microns) means a lot of surface area. The fibres have a hollow-cylindric structure (meaning low density and good insulation properties). The material has high thermo-stability, is water insoluble, biobased and biodegradable.

We are in the process of evaluating this material and are very open to collaborations.

Bioextrax KertinoPlast

Combining the keratin-rich microfibers with bioplastics (PHA) produces a composite that is light, strong and highly biodegradable.
